General Manager

 

Description:

The General Manager – FMCG will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the FMCG business, including sales, distribution, operations, finance, marketing, and supply chain. The role focuses on driving revenue growth, expanding market share, optimizing profitability, and ensuring compliance with Qatar’s regulatory and commercial requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Business Leadership
-Develop and execute the company’s short- and long-term FMCG strategy aligned with market trends in Qatar.
-Drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion across product categories.
-Identify new business opportunities, brands, and distribution channels.

Sales & Distribution
-Lead national sales strategy across modern trade, traditional trade, wholesale, and key accounts.
-Strengthen relationships with major retailers, distributors, and strategic partners.
-Monitor sales performance, pricing strategies, promotions, and trade marketing activities.

Operations & Supply Chain
-Oversee procurement, warehousing, logistics, and inventory management.
-Ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing expiry, wastage, and carrying costs.
-Coordinate with principals and suppliers to ensure timely imports and compliance.

Finance & Performance Management
-Manage budgets, forecasts, full P&L ownership, and cost controls.
-Ensure healthy cash flow, credit control, and working capital management.
-Review financial performance and implement corrective actions when required.

Marketing & Brand Management
-Oversee brand positioning, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
-Ensure marketing strategies are aligned with local consumer behavior in Qatar.
-Collaborate with principals on brand guidelines and marketing investments.

People Management
-Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and department heads.
-Build a high-performance, results-driven culture.
-Ensure compliance with HR policies, Qatar Labor Law, and company standards.

Compliance & Governance
-Ensure compliance with Qatar regulations, food safety standards, customs, and municipality requirements.
-Maintain strong corporate governance and internal controls.

Qualifications & Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field MBA or equivalent qualification is highly preferred
-Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the FMCG industry or food distribution
-At least 5 years in a senior leadership / GM / Director-level role
-Proven experience managing inventory-heavy businesses
-Strong experience in Qatar or GCC FMCG markets is mandatory
