Marine Superintendent

Description:

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor the day-to-day operational performance of assigned vessels, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency.
Conduct regular vessel visits, safety inspections, and onboard audits (ISM, ISPS, MLC, etc.).
Act as the main liaison between shore-based management and shipboard teams.
Ensure vessels comply with Flag State, Port State Control (PSC), and Classification Society requirements.
Investigate incidents and near-misses, and lead or assist in root cause analysis and reporting.
Assist in crew training, briefing, and debriefing to ensure adherence to safety and operational procedures.
Support and advise Masters and Chief Officers on navigational, safety, and cargo matters.
Coordinate emergency response and crisis management during incidents or accidents.
Monitor and drive implementation of environmental protection and pollution prevention measures.
Collaborate with technical superintendents for dry dock planning, repairs, and maintenance projects.
Assist in budget planning and cost control for marine operations.
Keep up to date with new regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc.) and ensure fleet compliance.

Requirements:
Education & Certification:
Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner) preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or a related field (optional but advantageous).
Experience:
Minimum 5–7 years of sea-going experience, preferably with time served as Master or Chief Officer.
At least 2–3 years in a shore-based marine superintendent or similar role.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and shipboard operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
Proficient in using ship management software and MS Office Suite.
Willingness to travel and attend vessels globally.
