Group Legal Director

Reporting directly to the group chairman and CEO, Digby Morris has been mandated by a large privately owned business in the state of Qatar to identify a suitably qualified individual for the role of Group Legal Director.

A well-known and long-established business in Doha, the company is a diversified trading conglomerate with vested interests in construction & engineering, real estate, retail and general trading subsidiaries.

The Role

• Primary function is to lead and develop the legal department at corporate level supported by a team of in-house lawyers and paralegals. The legal department supports a broad spectrum of subsidiaries and JVs under the corporate umbrella.
• Act as Legal Counsel in identifying and resolving companywide legal, arbitration and compliance issues.
• Take the lead role in the ongoing development of the company's corporate governance framework.
• Lead the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures for: Legal, Contract & Commercial, Procurement and, Litigation.
• Advising senior executives and the board on all legal matters
• Managing internal & external legal relationships
• Lead the development of the commercial and legal structures for new JVs.
